Umm…

26 March 2008 | 18:49 | Life | No Comments

I haven’t posted in a while, and I can’t blame myself this time. I’m doing 365 days of photo’s for both myself (rss) and Willow (rss). It’s enough for me, shame that I can’t get it to post on my blog automatically. At least I have the small banner. I’ve also registered for a Flickr Pro account so I can post pictures from our new camera and my new learning process.

That’s not the reason why I made this post though…. This is….

I mean…. come on…. I hope it REALLY does help the people that don’t die from taking it, geez!

365 Days

20 November 2007 | 15:18 | Life | No Comments

A few of my friends have decided that we’d take a self-portrait each day for 365 days. Partly, just to see if we could do it, and partly, just to do it.

We’re on Day 2 so far.

If you’re interested in joining, it’s not too late! You just need a Flickr account.

Here’s my pictures.

And here’s my contacts.

This isn’t a new idea, we’ve borrowed the idea from a few pre-existing groups, but we thought it’d be fun, and a good challenge.

A Birthday Surprise! No, really!

1 November 2007 | 12:51 | Life | 1 Comment

Ok, A Pretty Lady was being very mysterious about what my gift was. She kept trying to throw me off. She let out that it would arrive at 12pm today. This lead me to believe many things, if it were something coming from UPS or FedEx, how would she know what time. Then she tells me to make sure I turn the TV to channel 1 by 12pm (this turned out to be a total red herring).

Well 12pm came around, and she opened the doors to our apartment, and latched the outside doors open and told me to come outside, where there was a delivery truck. Seconds later I saw three guys pull a PIANO out of the truck. Of all the things I’d thought of, piano never entered into the equation!

Turns out she found it on craigslist for free, just had to pay the delivery guys!

It is one of my life goals to learn to play the piano, so here I go!

This kind of trumps Guitar Hero, eh?

October in a Nutshell

24 October 2007 | 17:44 | Life | No Comments

October has gone by pretty quickly for me. It’s been a busy month. My family came up for a weekend, then I went to Belgium for a week, then another friend was here for two days. After that A Pretty Lady had a really awesome show. I went to three of the four evenings. Pile in a lot of things we’re doing for work to prepare for Holiday rush and it’s been a wild ride.

Here’s the pictures of when my family came up from my Brother’s camera and mine:

Here’s the pictures I took when we had a free day to explore Brussels:

Watching TV over there, I cam across a station playing Oscar. I found a French speaking Sylvester Stallone to be very funny, thought I’d share.

Are We At War?

22 October 2007 | 13:15 | Logic | No Comments

I woke up today and checked my Work e-mail and had about 30-40 DenyHosts emails. These are automated emails I get when a host is blocked on our server. The hosts generally get blocked because they’re trying to hack into the server using a Brute force attack.

On any typical day I probably get 5-10 attacks. Today is a noticeable increase. I’m trying to find some information on what’s going on. My thought is there’s a new virus spreading around very quickly. Norton’s threat level is low, so is McAfee’s.

I decided to check the DenyHost graphs to see if it’s happening to other people, and it is…

Quite a big jump over the averages if you ask me.

Ballet vs Mordern: My Take

2 October 2007 | 22:31 | Life | No Comments

A Pretty Lady and I attended Fall for Dance, a dance festival taking place at the New York City Center. A friend of hers was in the festival and had two comp. tickets. This festival is very popular and the tickets sell out quickly, so we jumped at the opportunity to attend.

The shows vary by day, and the day we attended happened to have 2 ballet companies and 2 modern companies doing a few pieces each. For me, the two ballet companies were dreadful, especially the piece where one single male performer did ballet to various pieces of music that was being performed live (I think he was famous, because he sure acted like a prick). The musician was great and was the only thing I focused on. The ballet guy kept trying to be funny by doing what I’d describe as “letting loose”, I just found it tacky. All the modern pieces were so much better, and I’m not just saying it because A Pretty Lady introduced me to it (well maybe I am a little).

Here’s my definition of the difference between ballet and modern. Modern dance is exactly like Ballet, except you remove the pompous attitude and oh-look-at-me self importance, then remove the stick from all the dancer’s buttocks. To my virgin dance eyes, Ballet represents “The Man”, thus I dislike it. Don’t get me wrong, ballet looks extremely hard to do, physically, it’s just not my style. And to be fair, I have seen a few Modern pieces that were dreadful as well.

Beautiful Day

30 September 2007 | 11:59 | Life | No Comments

The past 3 or 4 days have been great outside. Sunny but cool. It’s a great time to come up here to visit (for future reference). My parents are taking advantage and so is a friend of mine. October will be a busy month for A Pretty Lady and me.

First weekend, my parents and maybe my brother and company will be up visiting.

Second week, I’ll be going to Belgium for work.

Third weekend, a friend will be visiting and A Pretty Lady has a big show at DNA, called Splice.

Then the next weekend will be Halloween, and we’ll be up here for it, so we may find something to attend and dress up.

Not to mention all the new TV shows starting their Fall seasons. I have a feeling October will be a blur!

UPDATE: We took Taylor to the park today, and everyone survived without the need of any stitches.
